South Sioux City Community Schools will be hosting a series of Cardinal Vision Community Workshops, beginning Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the SSC Middle School gymnasium.

In a news release sent to the Star, the school noted that it has been 25 years since any significant improvements have been made to the district’s buildings, and some are in serious need of updating to help students in the future.

“With increasing enrollment and aging school facilities, the time to act is now . . . our students deserve to learn in schools that will meet their needs now and in the future,” the release stated.

The introduction of the Cardinal Vision program is being noted as “a community engagement program that offers everyone a chance to take part in shaping the future of our schools. Through a series of five interactive workshops, led by fellow community members, parents, and teachers, you'll have the opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities we face and help develop the solutions to move our schools forward.”

Presentations, group-discussions and hands-on activities will be part of the five-program series that runs through mid-January of next year.

Future Cardinal Vision programs will be held on Tuesday nights on Oct. 8, Oct. 29 and Dec. 10, with the final program coming on Jan. 14, 2025.

The community is encouraged to participate in the Cardinal Vision program to help shape the future of the community’s education of its youth.
